Using AM radios, tape machines, a variety of vintage drums, natural time based effects and all analog mixing - we created an entire library of dreamy western sounds.

Recorded in the hills of Buffalo, WY - this pack pays homage to the American west.

THE RIDGE KIT

MASSIVE NATURAL REFLECTIONS

We setup a kit in front of a large reflective ridge face and pointed two stereo shotgun mics directly at it.

What we achieved was a completely natural time based effect that sounds like a delay unit from the 1980’s.

It’s peculiar, it’s huge and it sounds like nothing else.

HAY BAIL KIT

THE MOST RIDICULOUS ISOLATION BOOTH

Ok, we know this is ridiculous, but hear us out.

The hay bail tunnel created a natural muffling effect, similar to an isolation booth.

The resulting samples and loops have a supremely fat and dead quality to them.

REVOLVER KIT

A DREAMY WESTERN VALLEY

Let the strange reflections of the Wyoming hills serenade you.

The Revolver Kit (like the ridge kit) utilizes natural time based delay from shotgun mics pointed away from the kit to create a truly sweet sounding vibe.

During sampling, grasshoppers began to ruin our pristine sounds, so we shot at them with a revolver. This inadvertently created one of our favorite samples from this session.

THE WEIRD

AM RADIO & TAPE MACHINES

We love to break up the monotony of normal recording sessions. Buffalo was obviously no exception.

We broadcasted all of our samples and loops through AM radio transmitters and re-recorded what came out of our car speakers.

Some of these sounds made it into the final mixes. We kept the original AM radio only samples and smashed them even further using cassette tapes.
